The woman who went viral after appearing on a vlog filmed by a foreign visitor at the Bacolod City Public Plaza was arrested yesterday after being served a warrant.
Police identified the woman as Ana Marie Sta. Rita, a resident of Purok Cabugwason in Bacolod City’s Barangay Mansilingan.
Police Station 1 (PS1) commander, Police Senior Inspector Elmer Bonilla, said Sta. Rita was wanted on violations to RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Bonilla explained the bench warrant was issued after Sta. Rita failed to appear in court.
He also confirmed, Bacolod City Police Office director, Police Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo, ordered a manhunt against Sta. Rita after going viral on a video where she was seen asking for money and a hamburger.
Sta. Rita, meanwhile, admitted she was the one in the video, but stated she had “no evil intentions,” insisting she was only requesting food for her child and a friend.
The suspect is detained at PS1./DGB, WDJ
