Barangay 12 Captain Ely Alcantara recently ordered the demolition of a small hut located within the Bacolod Vendors Plaza, which was reportedly being used as a drug den.

In a radio interview yesterday morning, he said they learned about the location after witnessing several unidentified individuals arriving in the area. Alcantara said the individuals were not residents of the barangay and were only spotted going in and out during the late evening hours.

The barangay official also confirmed they raided the area a few days ago and caught several people in the act of sniffing illegal drugs; however, the suspects managed to flee.

The owner of the hut, meanwhile, who has requested not to be identified, explained the structure is being rented out and claimed being unaware of the illegal activities being conducted inside.

The owner also said they agreed with barangay officials in destroying the hut. They also filed a blotter report with police./DGB, WDJ
