Retired soldier nabbed for selling government-issued pistol in Kabankalan City

A retired Philippine Army soldier was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly sold a government-issued firearm illegally in Barangay Linao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Police identified the suspect as 55-year-old Harold Amar, a resident of Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City.

Kabankalan City deputy police chief, Police Chief Inspector John Gazon, said they conducted an entrapment operation against Amar, who was arrested after handing a .45 caliber M1911 pistol to an undercover cop in exchange for P3,000.

Aside from the pistol, police also recovered a 9mm revolver with five live bullets in the chamber, .45 caliber magazine with five live bullets, and the suspect’s motorcycle.

Amar faces illegal possession of firearms and ammunition charges and he is detained at the Kabankalan City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
