Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member Salvador Escalante, Jr., who serves as secretary-general for the United Negros Alliance (UNegA), confirmed an agreement has been reached for a unity ticket in the upcoming 2019 midterm elections.
He said incumbent Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will run for governor with 2016 vice gubernatorial candidate and former Negros Occidental fifth district Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer as his running mate.
Escalante said an official announcement is expected in the coming days.
He also hopes incumbent mayors will join the unity ticket.
Negros Occidental Third District Congressman Alfredo Benitez, meanwhile, has dropped all political plans for 2019, saying, he plans to continue helping the province in a private capacity./DGB, WDJ
