A groundbreaking, led by Batad Mayor Pedro Alarcon, was held over the weekend for a P174 million National Housing Authority (NHA) “Yolanda” housing project in the town’s Barangay Batad Viejo.
While Super Typhoon “Yolanda” struck the Philippines in November 2013, according to Herminio Carreon, owner of Hercar Construction Corporation, the contractor for the development, bidding for the housing project was not opened until October 2017.
The contractor has 335 days, or 11 months, to complete the project, which is projected to include a total of 608 homes across 4.6-hectares of land./WDJ
