A Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office cop was wounded after he was shot by motorcycle-riding gunmen Tuesday night at Phase 1 in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City.

Police identified the victim as Senior Police Officer 2 Carlos Alob, assigned to the La Castellana Municipal Police Station and a resident of the said area.

San Carlos City Police Station investigators said, around 7:40 p.m., Alob left his home to buy cigarettes from a nearby store.

Upon his return, two gunmen opened fire, hitting Alob several times across his body.

The victim, however, managed to run for cover inside his home, while the suspects immediately fled.

Alob was rushed to the San Carlos City District Hospital for treatment and was later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City after being stabilized.
