Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes of Murcia and Bago City-born boxer Aston ‘Mighty’ Palicte fought to a split draw over the weekend in their World Boxing Organization super flyweight title bout at The Forum in Inglewood, California, in the United States.

The result leaves the Negrense boxers with a pending rematch.

Observers say Palicte dominated the opening rounds, while Nietes picked up momentum later in the fight, which left the judges with varied decisions. Daniel Sandoval favored Nietes, 118-110; Robert Hoyle gave it to Palicte, 116-112; while Max DeLuca scored the fight an even 114-114./JSG, WDJ
