Go unable to confirm Duterte appearance

Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go said he is unable to confirm if President Rodrigo Duterte would attend this year’s MassKara Festival, which opens next month.

Go, who was in Bacolod City recently to lead the opening of the Malasakit Center, said, over the past two years, Duterte had been visiting the festival.

Duterte attended the MassKara Festival in 2016 and 2017, the former being his first such appearance after assuming office.

Go explained, a third visit by the president will depend on his schedule.

Duterte’s last visit to Negros Occidental was last May, when he led the groundbreaking for a housing project intended for those working in the military and law enforcement.

Last year, the president lauded the history of the MassKara Festival, saying, “The festival became a symbol of its people’s happy disposition and resilience during difficult times.”/DGB, WDJ
