The grand finals of the Negros Island Battle of the Brains, a regional science quiz bee conducted by the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), is set to commence on Friday, September 14, at Foundation University in Dumaguete City.

It was reported last month, Bacolod City schools Riverside College, Inc. Senior High School and Dr. Vicente Gustilo Memorial National High School both qualified for the grand finals. Also qualifying from Negros Occidental are Bago City College and Notre Dame Bago City, along with Southland College and Mabinay Science High School of Kabankalan City.

Among Negros Oriental qualifiers are Okiot National High School and Cambagahan National High School of Bais City, Valencia National High School, and Balugo National High School of Valencia.

“We look forward to a very tight competition,” said EDC-Reservoir and Project Management Division senior manager Vicente D. Omandam, Jr. “All the student-representatives from the participating schools are very smart and knowledgeable in renewable energy and other topics related to the environment.”

The competition seeks to raise awareness of the importance of renewable energy as one of the solutions in fighting climate change.
