The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported a 2.4-magnitude struck just west of Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental yesterday afternoon. The tremor was one of several recorded on the island in recent weeks, with the same area hit by a 2.0-magnitude quake last month.
According to a report by the agency, there was no damage recorded and no aftershocks expected.
Seismic activity measuring 2.4 in magnitude is typically considered a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where very few even feel the tremor.
Most recently, a 2.2-magnitude earthquake was recorded last Sunday, with an epicenter located just west of La Libertad, Negros Oriental./WDJ
