Metrobank names Pavia teacher among ‘Ten Outstanding Filipinos’

Winners each receive P1 million
Metrobank Foundation Inc. recently revealed this year’s “Ten Outstanding Filipinos,” which included Alma S. Janagap, an English teacher and remedial adviser at Pavia National High School.
She was one of four teachers named this year.
An advocate of a culture of reading, she developed a school-based reading clinic, a facility equipped with books and multimedia materials to provide a space conducive for learning, particularly for student struggling academically.
The program was recognized as the “Most Effective Remedial Reading” in Iloilo, which has since been replicated at 149 other schools.
Janagap was also named “Most Outstanding Remedial Reading Teacher in Iloilo.”
Award recipients, which also included three soldiers and three police officers, were each given P1 million, a trophy, and a gold medallion.
