The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Capiz is projecting the province will have at least 500,000 registered voters for the upcoming 2019 midterm elections.
Capiz Comelec elections supervisor, Atty. Wil Arceño, said, as of September 1, their office has received 14,000 new registrations. With 479,999 registered as of last May’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, if the new registrations are approved, the total will bring the province closer to 500,000 registrations.
“We are happy with the turn out,” he said.
Yesterday, Comelec offices in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental conducted special registrations for persons with disabilities and senior citizens throughout the province.
Meanwhile, last month, the Iloilo City Comelec encouraged city residents to register by setting up off-site registration centers throughout the city./WDJ
