Bacolod City National Housing Authority (NHA) representatives sat down with various officials last week to proceed with plans for a resettlement site in Murcia, Negros Occidental. The development would accommodate for informal settlers under the agency’s District Housing Program.
Engr. Liezl Mequit and Mary Grace Catalan of NHA-Bacolod met with Murcia Vice Mayor Gerry Rojas, Municipal Assessor and Housing Officer Randy Gamboa, and Municipal Planning and Development Officer Glenda Ruiz in the Mayor’s Office conference room to review requirements for acquiring land for the site.
Also in attendance were Marie June Pavillar-Castro from the Office of Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez and Annie Olimpo of the Murcia Municipal Assessor’s Office.
According to the congressman’s office, based on data gathered between 2016 and 2017, there are over 50,000 informal settler families throughout the Negros Occidental third congressional district./WDJ
