Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III recently expressed anticipation for the construction of a multipurpose hall for the city, which has been in the planning stages since the administration of former President Benigno S. Aquino III and is currently pending documentation, including the need to secure a loan to fund the project.
“I am really hoping this will be put into reality because we want to provide our residents and athletes a venue where they can practice and play various sports,” he explained. “It can serve as basketball court, like the MOA Arena; it will also host offices.”
“I also dream of putting a stable boxing area,” he added. “There will be gym for taekwondo, jiu jitsu, arnis, as well as [a] theater arts stage.”
The facility is expected to be built on 5,000-square meters of land inside the La Paz District Plaza.
It is also projected to accommodate for 7,000 spectators./WDJ
