The Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) revealed residential rates for August 2018 will increase by around 43¢, rising from P11.7019 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in July to P12.1384/kWh. Through a press release, the utility cooperative also revealed around 75 percent of revenue goes towards generation and transmission companies, which include system loss charges and adjustments approved by the Energy Regulatory Commission.

Assessed at P9.1611/kWh, the bulk of the fees go to pay the Korean Electric Power Corporation-Salcon Power Corporation, Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, Green Core Geothermal Inc., Energreen, Palm Concepcion Power Corporation, along with adjustments by the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management.

The disclosure of fees is part of unbundling, which, according to the release, provides “easy and uncomplicated information to identify itemized costs.”

They also cite RA 9136, or the Electric Power Industry Reform Act of 2001, which mandates the co-op to provide such information for consumers.
