The House of Representatives, on its third and final reading, unanimously approved House Bill 7544 earlier this week, which declares every last Monday in January as “National Bible Day.”
Authored by Sarangani lone district Rep. Rogelio Pacquiao, brother of Senator Manny Pacquiao, the bill is intended to unite Christians.
“As a predominantly Christian nation, the bill recognizes the value of the Holy Bible being the core of Christian faith and the foundation of spiritual, moral, and social fiber,” the congressman was quoted in a congressional release.
The observance will be considered a “special working holiday.”
In addition, Abang Lingkod partylist Rep. Stephen Paduano was included as a co-author of the legislation./WDJ
