The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) satellite office in Bacolod City is scheduled to close down on September 1.
Bacolod City Administrator John Orola said he recently spoke with LTFRB-Region VI Director Richard Osmeña, who said LTFRB cannot accommodate the high number of public utility vehicle operators due to their small office space, which is located at the BAYS Center along San Juan Street.
Orola said LTFRB is presently looking for a larger space in the city.
The city administrator added, the city government is “doing its best to assist the agency” and is hoping the LTFRB reconsiders its decision and continues to operate in the area until they can find a suitable office.
Transport groups in Bacolod City, meanwhile, have urged the city government to intervene, stating, it would be very difficult for them to process documents as they will be forced to cross to Iloilo City./DGB, WDJ
