Aklan continues to see a rise in inflation, or the rate in which the price of goods and services fluctuates, with the Philippine Statistics Authority-Aklan (PSA-Aklan) reporting a 5.1 percent spike in June, up from 1.5 percent during the same period last year.
The agency reported all commodity groups saw increases, with the alcoholic beverages and tobacco index recording a 23.9 percent rise.
Meanwhile, despite consumer prices remaining virtually unchanged, recording a 0.1 percent drop from the previous month, mark-ups were also prevalent during the month, with sugar and sugar products up 11 percent and corn increasing by 3.8 percent.
Earlier, PSA reported a 6.2 percent rise in inflation last April in Aklan, with the alcoholic beverages and tobacco index reporting a 20.5 percent rise.
