Seven students from the Negros Occidental third congressional district recently received five-year scholarships to study in China under the Bilateral Study Program.

The program provides tuition, accommodations, a monthly stipend, and medical insurance as the students study at the Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and Beijing Technology and Business University. They will also be taking one-year preparatory courses at the Beijing Language and Culture University, Tianjin University, and University of International Business and Economics.

“Make your parents and community proud,” said Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez during an awarding program over the weekend in Victorias City. “Give your best and make the most of this great opportunity.”

The recipients include Kristine Venesse Anunsawon, Angelica Banania, Ranilyn Bervedes, and Jeremy Duhilag of Talisay City; Mae Hernalin and Janseen Jocson of EB Magalona; and Trina Victoria Duno of Victorias City.

Candidates were screened by the congressman’s office, in partnership with the Department of Education-Silay City schools division.

The scholarship recipients are expected to leave for China next month./WDJ
