Torrendon: 131 cases involved children in conflict with law
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) recently revealed a total of 965 criminal cases involving women and children were reported last year.
According to BCPO-Women and Children Protection Desk head, Police Inspector Arlyn Torrendon, the office received a total of 520 cases reporting crimes committed against women, while another 314 involved children.
The remaining 131 cases involved children in conflict with law, which refer to minors either suspected or accused of committing a criminal offense.
Torrendon noted, 106 cases involving crimes committed against women and children have since reported between January and June of this year.
Last month, Office of the Ombudsman-Region VI director, Atty. Pio Dargantes, said violent acts committed against women continue to go unreported.
The Ombudsman regional director urged women to report acts of violence, noting the presence of a WCPD, which is in operation 24 hours a day./WDJ
