Farmers in Negros Occidental were recently the recipient of both training from the local Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), along with insurance claims from the Negros First Universal Crop Insurance Program (NFUCIP).
Earlier this month, DAR-Negros Occidental 1-North, in partnership with Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) and the Federation of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative in North Negros, conducted trainings on restaurant management and entrepreneurship at the CHMSC-Talisay City campus.
Forty agrarian reform beneficiaries from various agrarian reform cooperatives across northern Negros participated in the event.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. and Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the recent turnover of P2,128,620 in NFUCIP claims to farmers across the province.
226 local farmers attended the event at the Capitol Social Hall, alongside Provincial Agriculturist, Atty. Japhet Masculino; Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) president, Atty. Jovy Bernabe; PCIC-Region VI Director Eva Laud; among others.
Masculino explained, NFUCIP is a priority program of the provincial government that aims to protect crop investments and assuring farmers of recovered losses due to calamities such as plant disease, pest infestation, typhoons, floods, drought, earthquake, and volcanic eruption./WDJ
