The Iloilo City Inter-High School Tournament, a debate competition, opened yesterday, with 13 Iloilo City schools participating in this this year’s event.
“This is a competition [for] the cream of the crop,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III. “This is a venue for students to show how intelligent, witty, and aware they are.”
Among this year’s competitors include Ateneo de Iloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School, Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus, Iloilo Scholastic Academy, Iloilo National High School, Iloilo Sun Yat Sen High School, Angelicum School Iloilo, Jaro National High School, Ramon Avanceña National High School, Jalandoni Memorial National High School, Hua Siong College of Iloilo, Philippine Science High School, Special Education-Integrated School for Exceptional Children, and Colegio De San Jose.
“There will be cash prizes for the winners, medals and trophies,” said assistant department head Remia Regalado.
The finals take place today, August 17, at the Festive Walk Mall./WDJ
