According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), a 2.0-magnitude earthquake was recorded Tuesday morning in the vicinity of Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.
The agency noted, the tremor did not contribute to any damage and no aftershocks were expected.
Earthquakes of this magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli intensity scale, where very few even feel the earthquake.
Earlier this year, during a visit to Bacolod City, Phivolcs director and Department of Science and Technology Undersecretary Renato Solidum recommended Negros Occidental local government units prepare for the possibility of earthquakes after new fault lines were recently discovered on the island./WDJ
