According to a release from the Negros Occidental provincial government, Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Inc. (ICCPI) Executive Director Lorens Ziller said he was “impressed” by Bacolod City traffic management during a meeting with Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. at the Provincial Capitol yesterday.

He also commended the ongoing infrastructure developments in the city.

Amid the ongoing rainy season, the city has witnessed major flooding along roadways, resulting in heavy congestion, stalled vehicles, and stranded pedestrians. Last week, in particular, a car fell into an unfinished flood control project along Lacson Street. According to Police Station 2 traffic investigator, Police Officer 2 Regino Rex Eduardo, proper road signage was not installed to provide proper warning for motorists.

The ICCPI official said he visited the province for potential “infrastructure and transport sector” investment.

Ziller vowed to pledge his support for the “Invest in Negros” forum, which takes place in Makati City next month.

The upcoming forum is expected to discuss the tourism industry; food and service supply chain matters pertaining to agriculture, fisheries, livestock, utilities, and telecom; and infrastructure.

Also present at the meeting were Provincial Board Member Salvador Escalante, Jr.; Provincial Consultant Rafael Coscolluela; Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, Dr. Ma Lina Sanogal; Provincial Tourism Officer Cristine Mansinares; among others./WDJ
