A 15-kilogram monitor lizard, locally known as “halo,” was recently caught at Purok Zone 4, located at Calong-calong in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.
According to local barangay officials, the reptile measured five feet in length, with width of eight inches.
Officials said they captured the animal after receiving calls for assistance because it was too big to control.
A complaint was also filed by a local resident, claiming he lost several chickens, believed to have been eaten by the lizard.
Barangay Singcang-Airport Captain Rosinni Distrito, meanwhile, said the reptile will be turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources./DGB, WDJ
