Ilongga named DSWD assistant secretary

Former National Youth Commission (NYC) commissioner Rhea B. Peñaflor, originally from Iloilo, was recently appointed Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assistant secretary.

“I have been entrusted to a bigger role in DSWD,” she said. “I hope that I have served my duties well as your commissioner representing [the] Visayas in the National Youth Commission.”

Peñaflor graduated with a degree in journalism from West Visayas State University and earned her law degree from the University of Iloilo. As NYC commissioner, teen pregnancy, HIV and AIDS, and mental health were among her priority-concerns.

She is scheduled to take her oath of office today at Malacañan Palace.

Former NYC commissioner Rhea B. Peñaflor was recently appointed DSWD-6 assistant secretary.
