A newly-identified drug suspect was arrested during a buy-bust operation on Gustilo Boulevard, Barangay Zone 1, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental late Sunday afternoon.

Police identified the suspect as 37-year-old Ven John Verdeflor, a resident of Barangay Tinampaan in the city.

Cadiz City police head, Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, said Verdeflor was arrested after he handed over an elongated sachet of suspected shabu to an undercover officer in exchange for P500.

When frisked, Verdeflor yielded three more sachets of suspected shabu.

The arresting officers also confiscated Verdeflor’s mobile phone and the marked money.

Verdeflor’s motorcycle – which the police said he uses in transporting illegal drugs in the city – was impounded, too.

Verdeflor was detained in the lockup facility of the Cadiz City police station.

He was facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./DGB, WDJ
