“…I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no Savior… I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God… You shall acknowledge no God but me, no Savior except me…” –Isaiah 43:11 and 44:6, Hosea 13:4

A doctrinal foundation of the Children of God Blood Kin of the Christ Church, or the Simbahang Anak ng Diyos Kadugo Ni Kristo (AND KNK), pertains to who Jesus really is. For AND KNK, according to different definitive pronouncements in the Christian Bible, Jesus is God and Savior, and is God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Among these pronouncements is found in Jeremiah 3:14-16: “‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfil the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah…. In those days and at that time I will make a righteous branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’”

There is no denying what God was referring to in Jeremiah 3:14-16 as the “righteous branch” from David’s line is none other than God.

It is true there is no other Lord but God, and there is no other Savior but Him. This was what He declared in Isaiah 43:11, Isaiah 44:6, and Hosea 13:4. There is only one message given by God in all these verses: It is God who is the Savior, no other. This forces the question: Why did God say, in Jeremiah 3:14-16, the branch that would come from the line of David would be called “LORD” and “Righteous Savior?” Isn’t it a fact, if the branch came from the line of David, and David was only a human being with flesh and blood, this branch should also be of man, with flesh and blood? How do we answer this?

The branch from the line of David is not a human being, even if He was made of flesh and blood. While the branch Jeremiah 3 referred to someone as coming from the lineage of man, it is not truly a human being because “it” (the word used by the Bible in describing the branch) will be called “The Lord, the Righteous Savior.”

If the branch was called “the Lord.” people can say the branch was similarly a man because, during Biblical times, the rich, powerful, priests, and all others among the higher strata of the society were called “Lord” by the people. We can recall, along this line, that Jacob (who became Israel) called his older brother Esau, “My lord.”

God also called the branch, “the Righteous Savior”. This means God wanted to show the branch from David’s line is no other than Himself because Isaiah 43:11 and 44:6, and Hosea 13:4, were all clear: there is no other Savior but God.

Now, who in particular is this “branch” from the line of David? He is Jesus and no other (please read Isaiah 7:14, 9:2, and 9:6; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-37; and John 1:1-14); thereby confirming that Jesus is the true God and Savior.
