The Negros Occidental National Food Authority (NFA) is limiting the release of rice at five kilograms per buyer.

NFA-Negros Occidental head, Engr. Frisco Canoy, explained NFA rice is intended for indigent citizens.

Currently, Canoy said around 10,000 of the 80,000 bags of rice they received are still at the Bredco Port, while the rest has been distributed to various NFA warehouses throughout the province.

He added, NFA rice is good quality and currently costs P27 per kilogram, which is cheaper than commercial rice which ranges between P40 to P50 per kilogram.

The rice, which originated from Thailand, was delayed last month due to poor weather conditions which hampered the loading process./DGB, WDJ
