Negrense players called up to the national team
The Philippines is one of 16 teams competing in the 2018 Women’s Softball World Championship, which begins today, August 2, and runs until August 12 in the Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
The Philippine team roster includes three former Domingo Lacson National High School standouts, Ezra Jalandoni, Lyka Basa, and Celestino Palma.
The team is drawn in Group A, alongside the top-ranked United States, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, and South Africa.
The Philippines opens their campaign tomorrow, August 3, at 3:30 p.m. (local Japan time) against South Africa at the Akitsu Stadium in Narashino City.
Other top ranked teams, including host country Japan, currently second in the world, alongside Canada and Australia, are among the competitors in Group B./JSG, WDJ
