In response to a request by Task Force Kasanag national commander John Chiong for the Office of the Ombudsman to conduct lifestyle checks on three provincial government department heads, acting Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator, Dr. Lucille Gelvolea, recently suggested they should all be reviewed.
“[They] should not only conduct it on a few department heads but all of us,” she suggested via text message. “Why not also include other employees as well?”
The provincial official also said to “show [it] to our constituents.”
The initial request was made following the release of Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) with regard to properties allegedly owned by certain department heads.
“This is ministerial on my part being the government’s partner in fighting corruption and in helping ensure transparency in government,” Chiong explained./DGB, WDJ
