A motorcyclist was killed Monday evening after he was run over and crushed by a truck in Barangay Camingawan, Kabankalan City.

Police identified the fatality as John Lloyd Dela Cruz, a resident of Barangay Orong in the said city.

Based on information provided by Kabankalan City police traffic investigators, Dela Cruz was heading towards the city center when he was run over by a truck driven by 48-year-old Mario Maguad.

When cops interviewed Maguad, he admitted to driving fast at the time of the accident and did not see Dela Cruz stop at a road barrier.

The motorcyclist was rushed to the city’s district hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.

Police are presently waiting for a decision by Dela Cruz’ family if they will press charges or agree to a settlement./DGB, WDJ
