“…However, if you are no longer listening to the LORD your God, and no longer obeying His commands…all of these curses will come upon you and overtake you…The Lord will strike you with… scorching heat…until you perish. The sky over your head will be bronze, the ground beneath you iron…” –Deuteronomy 28:15, 22-23

While visiting New York City and Washington, DC in the United States over the last two weeks with my wife, former Judge Angelina Mauricio, and daughter, Atty. Maria Luisa Mauricio, we witnessed the hottest days of our lives.

Contrary to the belief the US has temperate weather year-round, we experienced scorching heat and humidity – it literally felt like we were inside an oven! We later found out, hot temperatures were not just happening in the US; according to scientists, it’s happening around the world.

A report by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a division of the United States Department of Commerce, revealed the world recorded 3,092 “record daily high temperatures;” which continue to increase on a daily basis.

Increasing temperatures recorded daily

A disturbing finding in the NOAA report also took note of 159 recorded monthly record temperatures, along with 55 greatly-increased temperatures, around the world. In the US alone, there were some 1,542 record daily high temperatures, 85 monthly record high temperatures, and 23 extremely high temperatures. In addition, such trends have been recorded in other countries with temperate weather conditions, including the London Meteorological Office recording a high temperature of 95.2°F in the village of Wisley, located just outside London. They also project the hottest temperature ever recorded in England, 101.3°F on August 10, 2003, could be broken this Friday, August 3.

In Japan, Kumagaya, located around 80 kilometers from Tokyo, recorded a high temperature of 106°F; Hayang, located in the southeast portion of South Korea, recorded a high temperature of 103.8°F; and North Korea posted temperatures of 104°F. According to Koreans, the temperatures are akin to the tropical climate of Southeast Asia.

Temperatures will become hotter

Death and illness are on the rise as a result of the scorching heat, and many places are also suffering from destruction. The worst part, this is just the beginning.

I have to repeat this: this killer hot temperature was prophesied in the Bible. We must pay attention to what Deuteronomy 2815, 22-23 is saying and understand them carefully because the remedy is also found within the passages.

The antidote is quite simple. If we believe in God and the Bible, we will not fail to realize relief from hot temperatures is returning to Him sincerely – by knowing and understanding the biblical commands and obeying them. I suggest we all try this now before it’s too late.
