After the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) conducted a search of Hinigaran Town Councilor Nazareno Lagtapon’s home, located along Aguilar Street in the town’s Barangay 4, Sunday morning, authorities recovered a rifle believed to be unlicensed.
According to the CIDG, authorities served a search warrant on illegal possession of firearms charges and found an M14 rifle in the town official’s residence. While Lagtapon was able to present documentation to show the firearm was licensed, the address on the license was different from his reported permanent address.
CIDG operatives are currently authenticating the documentation.
The town official, who chairs the town council’s peace and order committee, may face charges in violation of Section 31 of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./DGB, WDJ
