Iloilo City will be hosting a disaster cluster seminar by CityNet, an international organization focused on sustainable urban development. The seminar is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 2, and run until August 4 at the Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo in the city’s Mandurriao district.
The event is expected to attract 37 disaster risk reduction management officials from across the country.
Delegates from around the world, including the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction, among others, are expected to feature at the seminar.
Among the topics expected to be discussed include evolving perspectives on resilience and disaster risk reduction, understanding risks and enhancing risk governance, investing in resilient structures, and other subjects.
CityNet, or the Regional Network of Local Authorities for the Management of Human Settlements, was established in 1987 with a goal of exchanging knowledge and building commitments to establishing more sustainable and resilient cities./WDJ
