The Iloilo City government kicked off their month-long Charter Day observance yesterday with a street dance at City Hall.
2018 marks the city’s 81st Charter Day celebration.
“This celebration reminds us, after so many years since our cityhood, Iloilo City continues to grow and achieve so much,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III. “We are glad to witness another milestone for our city.”
The mayor led opening ceremonies, which began with a 7:00 a.m. mass at the San Jose Parish Church.
Various events are scheduled throughout August, including the Iloilo City Tennis Center launch on August 7, Philippine Sports Commission Visayas Open on August 10, Iloilo City Inter-District Street Dance Competition on August 11, International Youth Day Celebration on August 12, among other activities.
Notably, the observance will also be hosting an LGBT Day and Night on August 17 and the Lin-ay sang Iloilo coronation on August 20./WDJ
