Bascon: It is still too early
By Dominique Gabriel G. Bañaga
Himamaylan City Mayor Agustin Bascon has yet to decide on political plans for the upcoming 2019 midterm elections.
In a recent meeting with Bacolod City media, Bascon said he would wait for the decision of his political coalition, Love Negros.
It is still too early, he added.
Earlier reports considered the mayor a potential candidate for Negros Occidental fifth district representative, set to be vacated by incumbent Rep. Alejandro Mirasol next year. He was also reportedly endorsed by Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez.
Among other rumored candidates for the fifth district seat include Bascon’s cousin, Negros Occidental Provincial Board Member Alain Gatuslao; Marilou Arroyo, sister of the late Ignacio Arroyo, Jr., who previously held the post; Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña; and Sugar Regulatory Administration board member, Atty.
