Ringstar Boxing CEO Scott Farrell recently revealed interest in co-producing Manny Pacquiao’s next fight following the latter’s recent World Boxing Association welterweight title win over Argentine fighter Lucas Matthysse at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
“I want to give the people of the Philippines the chance to watch their hero and boxing legend, Senator Manny Pacquiao, defend his belt or fight for another world title on his home ground,” he explained. “This would be another gigantic step in my mission.”
Farrell added, he wanted to “bring the ‘Thrilla’ back to Manila,” referencing the famed 1975 heavyweight fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, which took place in Quezon City. The fight was the third bout between the two American boxers, with Ali winning via technical knockout.
Since parting ways with boxing promotion company Top Rank, Pacquiao has since been acting as his own promoter through MP Promotions.
“Come on MP Promotions, let’s sit down and discuss something truly incredible,” Farrell remarked.
Meanwhile, mixed martial arts and kickboxing organization ONE Championship also voiced interest in working with the Filipino boxer.
“I’d love to see him defend his title in the Philippines and give Filipino fans what they want in a mega card,” said One Championship founder Chatri Sityodton./PLL, WDJ
