Iloilo City councilor Plaridel Nava recently sat down with Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director, Police Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao, in a closed-door meeting to discuss the local illegal drugs situation.

The city official said he explained how Iloilo City managed the situation regarding local drug lords, namely the slain Melvin ‘Boyet’ Odicta and Richard ‘Buang’ Prevendido; along with Jesus ‘Jing-jing’ Espinosa, who is currently detained at the Iloilo District Jail serving an eight-year sentence for frustrated murder.

Espinosa’s wife, Barangay Monica-Blumentritt Captain Keith ‘Dabing’ Espinosa of the city’s City Proper district recently came forward claiming she was receiving death threats related to illegal drugs. The barangay official previously surrendered to police under “Oplan Tokhang” and has a son currently incarcerated on drug charges.

Nava also provided the PRO-6 chief with a folder containing data regarding the ongoing illegal drugs situation, which reportedly included information about the said barangay captain.

“Gusto ko i-refute ang style ni Dabing nga nagapaluoy-luoy sya daw as if inosente sya (I would like to refute Dabing’s style, where she acts pitiful as if she is innocent),” he stated. “Hambal ko kay [Bulalacao], indi ni sya ya inosente (I told him, she is not innocent).”

The city councilor expressed his confidence in the PRO-6 chief, adding, he plans on providing more information on the drug personalities discussed in their meeting.

“He asked me to be his partner in his campaign against illegal drugs,” Nava said. “Nakita ko ang iya determination and sincerity sa away kontra sa droga (I saw his determination and sincerity in the fight against drugs).”/WDJ
