The Bacolod City government began releasing salaries for 1,556 summer workers last Wednesday. The workers were part of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).
PESO Bacolod officer-in-charge Ma. Rebecca Balicas said 1,411 received their salaries on Wednesday.
Each worker received P3,000 for working 15 days.
The PESO official explained, SPES provides opportunities for students to find income during summer break and to prepare for the next school opening.
Students between the ages of 15 and 30, who earned average passing grades during their last semester and whose parents are considered low income based on their tax return are qualified.
The next salary release is today, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; then on Monday, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m./DGB, WDJ
