A Negrense soldier was killed after he was allegedly shot by another soldier yesterday morning inside the Philippine Army 61st Infantry Battalion camp in Barangay Lagdungan, Tapaz, Capiz.

Authorities identified the fatality as 37-year-old Private First Class (PFC) Delio Sebarillo of Manapla, Negros Occidental.

In a radio report by Radyo Bandera Sweet FM Bacolod, an initial investigation by police found Sebarillo was shot a total of 15 times by a 9mm pistol, with PFC Sargie Labao as the suspected gunman.

Labao was assigned to the same company as the victim.

Sebarillo was rushed to the Tapaz District Hospital, where he was later declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.

Labao was later arrested by Tapaz police.

In a follow-up interview, Sebarillo’s mother, Mildred, said she was informed yesterday of the incident.

She said her son was due to retire from the service after serving in the army for six years.

Sebarillo left behind a wife and three children.

Police have yet to determine a motive./DGB, WDJ
