Forums held across Negros Occidental discussing violent extremism

Task Force Buglas, which was established to ensure coordinated quick response to disasters and terror threats, held a series of forums across Negros Occidental last week, where the subject of violent extremism was discussed.

The forums, which were held in Talisay City, Kabankalan City, and Manapla, sought to promote awareness of the dangers of violent extremism.

Among the speakers featured were Rolane Uy of the Bohol Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Philippine Army 301st Infantry Brigade deputy commander, Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte; Merlie Mendoza; and Ustadz Najeeb Razul, a mufti, or an Islamic scholar.

The event was conducted in coordination with the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Department of Education, and LGU Planning and Development Office./WDJ
