The Metro Boracay Police Task Force (MBPTF) recently announced they will be participating in the trainings and seminars hosted by the Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6) ahead of the shuttered resort island’s reopening, which is currently scheduled for October 26.

DOT-6 director, Atty. Helen J. Catalbas, said she wants all parties associated with tourism to participate in the training, saying, when the island reopens, “Quality of services offered will be better.”

She noted, the MBPTF will be joining trainings on hospitality service, tourist safety, first aid and basic life support, customer service, foreign language training, along with a course called “TOP COP.”

Earlier this week, following a senate resolution introduced by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV calling for an assessment of the ongoing Boracay rehabilitation, Catalbas cited their training programs, saying, they have equipped the area with enough manpower for reopening.

“We are now conducting different kinds of trainings for Boracay front liners, stakeholders, and indigenous people to ensure they are ready for the reopening of Boracay on October 26,” she affirmed. “[DOT-6] will also provide adequate assistance, especially to the residents of the island.”/WDJ
