During a recent visit by Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Roy Cimatu to Camp General Macario Peralta, Jr. in Jamindan, Capiz, home to the Philippine Army 3rd Infantry Division (3ID), he noted the presence of forests and other greenery surrounding the military installation.
“I think this is the greenest division in the country,” the cabinet official said.
Last May, during an anniversary celebration for the 3ID, Capiz Governor Antonio del Rosario suggested the military camp be considered a tourist destination.
He called the location “enchantingly beautiful” and pointed out the camp is the “third-largest military reservation in the country.”
The camp sits across over 33,310 hectares, which includes a wildlife sanctuary and is home to five waterfalls.
Cimatu was at the camp to serve as guest speaker for the closing of the candidate soldier course earlier this week./WDJ
