Suspected Tubbataha Reef poacher arrested in Hinoba-an

A man allegedly wanted for conducting poaching activities at the Tubbataha Reef, located in the Sulu Sea, was arrested over the weekend after he was tracked down at his home in Barangay Sangke, Hinoba-an.

Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Magellan Dacillo.

Hinoba-an municipal police chief, Police Senior Inspector Jerry Nacion, said an arrest warrant was issued against Dacillo by Judge Anna Leah Tiongson-Mendoza of Regional Trial Court-Branch 164 in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Dacillo is wanted in violation of Section 26 (C) of RA 10067, or the Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park Act of 2009.

Bail was set at P24,000.

Dacillo is currently detained at the Hinoba-an Police Station./DGB, WDJ
