Policemen in Bacolod led a simultaneous clean-up of rivers around the city on Saturday morning as part of the observance of the 23rd Police Community Relations (PCR) Month.
Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, Bacolod police public information officer and PCR Unit officer-in-charge, said the activity was participated in by personnel from the headquarters and all 10 police stations.
The police teams, joined by barangay officials, force multipliers and students, in their respective areas of assignments, started the clean-up around 6 a.m.
The Bacolod Police headquarters group led by Supt. Victorino Romanillos, deputy city director for administration, and Supt. Leonardo Borromeo, deputy city director for operation, conducted the clean-up in Mambuloc River in Barangay 10 under village chief Dexter Yap.
Police Station 6 personnel led by Senior Inspector Wilfredo Benoman Jr. joined the clean-up in the area.
They were able to collect 15 sacks of garbage from Mambuloc River.
Personnel of Police Station 4 led Senior Inspector Adrian Real were assisted by the village watchmen of Barangay Estefania under barangay captain Jerry Tingson in the clean-up under the Villa Angeles Bridge.
In Barangay 5 led by village chief Raymundo Salaveria, personnel of Police Station 2 under Senior Inspector Leo Estopa initiated a clean-up of Lacson Creek.
They were joined by senior high school students of AMA Computer College Bacolod.
The team from Police Station 3 headed by Senior Inspector Victor Paulino were assisted by Barangay Mandalagan Anti-Drug Abuse Council in the clean-up and declogging of the Our Lady of Mercy Bridge in Purok Bulak. (PNA)
