The National Food Authority (NFA) in Negros Occidental confirmed 80,000 bags of imported rice arrived at the Bredco Port yesterday morning.

NFA-Negros Occidental head, Engr. Frisco Canoy, said the imported rice, which originated from Thailand, was supposed to arrive last Sunday but was delayed due to poor weather conditions.
He added, the ship carried a total 200,000 bags of rice, with the remaining 120,000 set to be delivered throughout the Eastern Visayas.
Earlier this month, the local NFA borrowed 10,000 bags of rice from Iloilo.
An initial delivery of 2,000 bags were delivered last week.
The rice allocation for Negros Occidental has been delayed since last month, primarily blamed on loading problems brought about by bad weather./DGB, WDJ
