Five Iloilo National High school students won at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), which took place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States, back in May.
Randy Molejona, Jr. and Elaine Nicole Saquin took third in the Earth and Environmental Sciences category, Pete Gabriel Ledesma came in fourth in the Materials Science category, and Lenn Patrice Ganzon and Anne Nicole Occeña were finalists in the Biomedical and Health Sciences category.
“One thing that I realized was it’s important for us to cultivate the culture of research,” said Ledesma following the event. “We must try to explore new things and work for future inventions, which will help improve the lives of the people.”
The annual Intel ISEF is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition and attracts nearly 2,000 high school students from around the world./WDJ
