Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Bacolod City was swamped last Monday, the first day for voter registration.
Comelec-Bacolod elections supervisor, Atty. Mavil Majarucon-Sia, explained the increase was because there is no transfer of registration from the earlier barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls to the 2019 midterm elections.
She estimated there were around 200 new registrations, most of whom were transfers.
For transfer registrations, Majarucon-Sia said the only requirement is a valid government-issued ID with an address or in combination with a utility bill, which shows proof of residence.
She also said, during the first two hours, processing had been slow because they were still getting used to a new system.
Voter registrations can be processed with the local Comelec office from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., including holidays. Satellite registrations are also being conducted./DGB, WDJ
