A suspected thief was arrested after he victimized an off-duty police officer late Sunday evening at a mall located at the reclamation area in Bacolod City.

Police identified the suspect as the 32-year-old Jimbo Agravante, a resident of Purok Punay, Barangay 16.

Police Station 1 (PS1) investigators said the victim, identified as Senior Police Officer 1 Cherry Gimena of the Bacolod City Police Office, was inside an entertainment arcade when Agravante allegedly took her bag containing jewelry, a mobile phone, a powerbank, and identification cards.

Gimena proceeded to PS1, where she identified Agravante based on the station’s rogue gallery.

The suspect was later arrested in a follow-up operation and the stolen bag was recovered.

However, the jewelry inside was already gone.

A search of the suspect also yielded a .45 caliber pistol.

Agravante faces theft and illegal possession of firearms charges and is presently detained at PS1./DGB, WDJ
